A Visit of a Group of Biologists from Lund University

On Wednesday, October 9, a group of biologists from Lund University visited Pioneer Centre for AI. The visiting researchers have a general interested in phenotypic evolution and phenomics (the high throughput measurement and quantification of organismal phenotypes).

The speakers for the meeting were Erik Svensson (Professor), an evolutionary biologist, working on the interface between ecology and evolutionary biology, Masahito Tsuboi (Researcher), an evolutionary biologist interested in the role of constraints in macroevolution, Anna Penna (Postdoc) and Giuseppe Bianco (Research engineer), a technical expert of the Animal Navigation Lab that aims at understanding how animals migrate. They presented a selection of their ongoing research, by giving four short and informal presentations.

The presentations covered several topics and study systems, including quantitative analysis of phenotypes, metabolic allometry, modularity and a presentation of their 3D laboratory.
